3 Areas of Your Business that Need Tech Now Idinopulos makes the point that these psychological attributes don’t work for a few reasons:The premise that just a few have such talents is repudiated by the fact that it gets adopted by any number of people who don’t fit into any one categoryThey re not actionable. How can you scale this across an organization of 5,000 to 10,000 employees? The signal does not transmit. Do you know the lonely social media evangelist? The one who finally just gives up and says people “just don’t get it.” The enthusiasm has to transfer to the organization. It’s evident a methodology is emerging for how to make Enterprise 2.0 a deep institutional focus. Companies like the Dachis Group and Pragmatic Enterprise are pioneering new methods to help clients institute technologies and practices that fit with the social enterprise.Dion Hinchcliffe and Michael Krigsman of Pragmatic Enterprise take a holistic approach. They look at the political, technical and business issues that come with any social Web initiative. They look for executive champions who want to use social technologies to solve a business problem. Once the problem is identified, a process begins that seeks out the spectrum of opinions about the project and the use of Enterprise 2.0 practices for the group. The business world is developing its own methods for how it makes social technologies a part of the business process. At times it may be surprising how the technologies get adopted. Idinopulos points to a marketing manager who turned out to be responsible for attracting thousands to a Socialtext environment that Idinopulos and his group had implemented for the company:“Because the Marketing Manager’s commitment to social media wasn’t a personal thing, it transferred quickly to other parts of the business. Other Marketing groups got wind of the project, and started posting their own content, creating their own workspaces, starting their own conversations. Then it started to spread beyond Marketing, to Sales and Product groups that had initially participated as consumers of Marketing content. Marketing’s cross-silo reach positioned them to involve different parts of the organization, which then went on to do their own thing. That would not have happened if Marketing’s success had been a function of one person’s passion.”The example is proof that the enthusiasm comes from how the social technologies help people in their work so the business can prosper. As the Godfather would say:“It’s not personal. It’s just business.” IT + Project Management: A Love Affair Related Posts Cognitive Automation is the Immediate Future of… Massive Non-Desk Workforce is an Opportunity fo… Tags:#enterprise#NYT#Trends alex williams From time to time, we look at how Enterprise 2.0 practices are reaching into companies. A recent post by Michael Idinopulos demonstrates how the premises for finding Enterprise 2.0 champions is often flawed. Too often the search is for the right personality. Instead, the focus of the search should really be for the people who are “exchanging knowledge, information, and ideas across large parts of the organization.” Idinopulos compares it to how The Godfather’s Don Corleone would approach the issue when choosing the right people for the job: “It’s nothing personal. It’s just business.” In other words, people are chosen for their role in the organization not for who they are as people.Let’s just say the “Godfather,” process is still not widely used. Often, managers look for the “it” factor. Here are a few of the more common things Idinopulos has heard managers say they are looking for:The Young and Hip: “Jimmy’s only 28. He grew up on Facebook!”The Tech-Savvy: “Mary’s always got the latest gadget. She’s a natural for this!”The Connectors: “Martin knows everybody. He’s the ideal social networker!”The Visionaries: “Isabel is so visionary. She’ll totally get what we’re trying to do!”
Jwala Gutta is least concerned with the fact that she has dropped out of the top-10 in the mixed doubles rankings. She would rather give credit to herself for winning the women’s doubles gold medal at the Delhi Commonwealth Games and said that 2010 was the most memorable year of her career.”I know my ranking in mixed doubles has dropped but that is because I choose not to play tournaments after the Commonwealth Games. I was really tired and wanted a break. I am not worried about my rankings as what matters is performance.”If I perform well, I can certainly rise in rankings again. My performance is more important for me than rankings.” Jwala was in the Capital for the announcement of dates for the 75th Raghvendra Singh Memorial Senior National Badminton Championship to be held in Rohtak from January 3 to 10.The Commonwealth Games has helped not just shuttlers but the sports itself to gain popularity among the masses.Jwala said that the Games were a turning point in her career which helped her getting recognition and sponsors.”2010 was the best year of my career as I won the doubles gold at the Games which gave me a lot of recognition. I am approached by more sponsors and it has changed my life,” said Jwala. She has not made any New Year resolution but says she will be more focused in 2011.”Next year is an Olympic qualification year. I am focusing more on the Malaysian and Korean Super Series events as they are really important. I have taken sufficient break now so I am ready to play my best out there,” she said.advertisementJwala also said that her mixed doubles partner Valiyaveetil Diju is working hard on his fitness as they need to be really fit for next year’s tournaments.”Diju is working really hard on his fitness. I am also trying to get fully fit before I participate in the Super Series events. I am not thinking of changing my partner as I am a very loyal person and I would not just play a tournament if my partner is injured rather than changing him or her. Diju and I can play for another four years without any problems,” Jwala said. This is the first time that the Haryana Badminton Association is organising a senior level badminton tournament. The qualifying rounds will be played on the first two days with inter- zonal competition on January 5 and 6. The main rounds will be held from January 7 to 10.”I am happy to be a part of this tournament and hope to start the New Year with a good performance in the national championship. I am pleased with the kind of incentives for the players in the event and it is good that young players will get a chance to test their skills. There are many upcoming players and it is good that they will get good exposure here,” she said.Haryana Badminton Association president Devender Singh said that they will make the event a great success and will provide the best facilities to the players. ” This is the first time we are organising the national championship at the senior level. I can assure you that we will make it the best event and will provide the best facilities to the players. I have also sent a request to Saina Nehwal but we have no confirmation from her side. On January 10, we will felicitate Saina, Jwala, Prakash Padukone and Pullela Gopichand to recognise their achievements in badminton,” Devender said.

Midfielder Gareth Bale is enjoying life at Spanish champions Real Madrid and has committed his future to the club, the Welsh international said after the side’s Champions League triumph on Saturday.Bale, who joined Madrid in 2013, has scored 67 goals in 146 appearances and signed a contract extension in October to keep him at the club until 2022 but his future in Spain has been cast in doubt following a frustrating injury-riddled campaign.”We are winning trophies and I am happy. I have signed a long-term contract at Madrid,” Bale is quoted as saying by the BBC after Madrid beat Juventus 4-1 in the final in Cardiff.”My family is happy and I am happy, so yes we will continue what we are doing.”Madrid’s third Champions League triumph in four years marked Bale’s seventh trophy at the club but the 27-year-old remains hungry for more success.”It’s the reason why I came to Real Madrid — to win trophies. We’re enjoying winning them at the moment, so we’ll continue to do so,” Bale added.”Three Champions Leagues in four seasons isn’t too bad.”I think we can get better. We are still quite young as a whole team and we have a great squad.”Saturday’s victory was made sweeter for Bale as he became just the sixth player to win a European final in his home town as well as the only Welshman to win the continent’s top trophy three times, surpassing Ryan Giggs and Joey Jones.”To play a final in your home city is incredible but to win it is even better, a great experience,” Bale said.advertisement

We had two tough games against them last season and came out on the wrong side of a 2-1 [defeat] both times.”But they won’t have played against this Aston Villa and some of my players won’t have played against them before.”It’s a game we are looking forward to and I’m sure it’s a game both sides will be looking at to get three points.”
President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sagicor, Christopher Zacca, is to chair a team to assist the Government and the Board of Petrojam to determine the strategic direction of the company.Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, made the disclosure when he addressed the House of Representatives on July 10.“There is urgent need for a review, even more so when the organisation is losing focus and straying from the policy guidelines and placing public funds at risk,” Mr. Holness said. The Prime Minister emphasised that the Government cannot sit idly by “and allow this to happen”.“The Government must act, and we are acting to ensure that Petrojam can have a good solid future for the people of Jamaica,” he said.Among the factors that give rise to the need for this review are the non-cooperation of the Venezuelan partners to enable the start of the infrastructural upgrade, the effects of sanctions imposed by the United States on those who trade with Venezuela, and the quest for advantages from the penetration of renewables. The Prime Minister noted that the review will also assist in organisational restructuring to enable the entity to realise the plans cast.“I have already had discussions with Mr. Zacca… and consultations are under way with a view to the appointment of other qualified professionals to serve on the team. The terms of reference will be finalised in short order, and I expect to be in a position to announce the full members of this committee by the next sitting of Parliament,” he said.Meanwhile, Mr. Holness said the Government, by its actions, is showing its concern about the serious allegations made and has engaged a process that is designed to establish facts in the haystack of allegations.“Whatever we are able to verify with our limited powers of investigation and discovery, we have acted upon them and we have kept the public informed of our actions,” he said.“This Government is serious about building a culture of accountability. Accountability is a spectrum of actions starting with an agent (the Cabinet, the main agent of policy) reporting to a principal of authority (the Parliament from which government is drawn),” Mr Holness said. The Prime Minister also informed that the Auditor General will deliver her report to Parliament in short order. WASHINGTON — Spending on U.S. construction projections fell 0.1% in October, the third consecutive monthly decline, as weakness in home building and non-residential construction offset a rebound in government projects. The Commerce Department says the October decline matched a similar 0.1% drop in September and followed a 0.4% fall in August. Construction has been weak since peaking in May with declines in four of the five months since that time, reflecting in large part the struggles that home builders faceIn October, home building fell 0.5%, while non-residential construction retreated 0.3% as declines in construction of medical facilities and shopping centres offset a gain in office construction. Government spending was up 0.8% in October, a rebound that reflected gains in both state and local projects and federal spending.Martin Crutsinger, The Associated Press
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Friday issued summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and three others in a defamation complaint filed by BJP leader Rajeev Babbar. Additional Chief Metroplitan Magistrate Samar Vishal asked Kejriwal, Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Gupta, MLA Manoj Kumar and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Atishi Malena to appear before him on April 30. Babbar has sought proceedings against Kejriwal and others for harming the reputation of the BJP by blaming the BJP for the deletion of names of “voters” from the electoral rolls in Delhi. The reputation of the complainant has been damaged beyond repair,” Babbar said. Babbar has alleged that Kejriwal has not only defamed the BJP but also all the people who are associated with the party. “The statement of the accused (Kejriwal) was made with ulterior motives to degrade the reputation of the BJP to gain cheap political mileage in the upcoming elections,” Babbar said in his plea filed through advocate Neeraj, S.
