GTT announces 10k/5K walk as part of Pinktober

first_imgCOMMUNICATIONS provider Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GTT) has announced a 10K/5K walk as part of its celebrations for Cancer Awareness Month.Pinktober, as they are calling the month of celebrations will feature a number of activities with the walk, set for October 21, being touted as the feature event.During yesterday morning’s launch, the company stated that as part of their lead-up to the walk, they have organised special group training sessions in the National Park.Training days are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and will be done by renowned local coach Leslie Black.According to Black, whose daughter passed away as a result of cancer at the age of 22, he was hesitant at first having received the call from the mobile service provider.However, when he heard the initiative and what it was going to be for, he immediately offered his services.Black noted, “If we realise what it is and how secretive this demon is (cancer), we can try to detect it.”Persons can register for the walk online at gtt.co.gy/cancerwalk for $2000 vat inclusive.Registration for the walk will permit persons to have a free T-shirt, three days of free mobile data, a $500 donation to the Guyana Cancer Foundation and a ticket to either of three concerts featuring either gospel, reggae or dancehall artists. March Madness 2019: UConn continues to make women’s tournament history with Elite Eight berth

first_imgThe Huskies were able to come back for the eventual 69-61 win to continue their historic streak. The win put UConn into the Elite Eight for the 14th consecutive tournament. No other team in history has an active Elite Eight streak longer than two seasons, according to ESPN Stats & Info.UConn was held to just nine points in the second quarter, but came out in the second half to combine for 38 points over the last two periods. The Huskies went on a 15-4 run at the start of the fourth quarter, and ended up outscoring UCLA 20-11 in the final 10 minutes.Napheesa Collier led the Huskies with 25 points and 10 rebounds.Crystal Dangerfield came alive in the fourth quarter. She had nine points during the team’s game-winning burst and finished with 15 total points. It’s literally in her name. Andrew Wiggins has shoes, luggage stolen from Los Angeles home, report says

first_imgAndrew Wiggins’ Los Angeles home was burglarized earlier this month.The Timberwolves forward has been spending the summer on the West Coast working out when, according to a TMZ report, his shoes, luggage and rental car were stolen. Wiggins’ belongings are still missing. The TMZ report noted:”Law enforcement sources tell us the 24-year-old — who’s been in L.A. training for the NBA this summer — had his place broken into earlier this month.”But, we’re told cops described the scene as ‘amateur hour’ … because the burglars left jewelry and other valuables in the heist, and only took about $1,000 worth of the stuff instead.”We’re told the thieves stole a pair of Wiggins’ casual Nikes and his luggage — and also made off with his rental SUV Escalade. But, we’re told authorities were able to locate the vehicle a short time later.”The Los Angeles Police Department is still investigating the incident and no arrests have been made, TMZ added.
